The Tuscany moose has been serving up surprises for our class! Every morning he left us a letter and a challenge to do in the day! On Monday, we wrote to him about what he were doing to do on our winter breaks. On Tuesday, we created a visual journal page about Inuksuks. On Wednesday, we made patterns in polar bear art. On Thursday, we practiced singing our presentation song. On Friday, because we worked so hard, the moose left us behind some prints and a gift!  Here is our performance!     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBWFkM5MC

Bonjour! Here are some awesome highlights from our week! In Social Studies, we had an AMAZING presentation from one of our colleagues who spent some time teaching in Nunavut! She was able to share stories of ways of life and show artifacts from her time there. We also spent some time journaling about what we learned!  We also had a visit with Elder Saa'kokoto, and our artist in residence, Karen! Saa'kokoto told us about tracks, and how we can give back to Na'a by making beautiful art on the land. Karen then shared with us how to make art on the land using various materials!  In science, we experimented putting thermometers in various places around the school to see if their temperatures would change. We then graphed our findings in math!  In PE, we have been practicing yoga! It has been a very fun way to calm our jitters as we approach the break!  Looking ahead...  Dec 16 Fun Lunch (wear spirit wear) Dec 17 Last Day of classes – pajama day (keep in mind we...

In math this week, we had lots of fun playing place value games where students identified groups of tens and ones and found which different numbers they could make. We also explored identifying symbols of greater than or less than. We all worked on number-lines, and where different numbers would go depending on how big the number line was. Grades 1s practiced finding numbers from 1-100 and stating 1 more, one less, as well as 2 more 2 less. Grade 2s practiced identifying missing numbers on various number-lines; 0-10, 0-25, 0-50, 0-100. Depending on how large the number-line was proved to be a fun challenge!  In French this week, we moved into complex sounds in french like on, om, qu, oi, an, gn. We practiced identifying them in books, and using them to created original and detailed sentences In Social Studies, we looked at the arctic community of Iqaluit! We explored the physical environment, location in Canada, and animals we saw!  In art this week, we made beautiful tree lan...
