In math, Grade 1s have been working on making their own book about math strategies we have been learning for addition! They can't wait to show families next Friday for celebration of learning! Grade 2s this week started addition algorithms with regrouping and they are doing amazing!!  In science, we made an experiment on our window about the water cycle. Students love 'making it rain' with the condensation.  In social studies, students observed life on the prairie and are creating a page in their visual journals to demonstrate different elements of the prairies!  In P.E, students have begun gymnastics and are working on mat work. Next week they will start using equipment!!  In FLA, students worked through the neurolinguistic approach (NLA).  This week in science, we have been learning about liquids! We've taken a closer look at how water changes. We made up a dance to talk about the different states of water, and conducted a science experiment of how heavy a cloud becomes before it produces rain!  In social studies, we started our unit on prairies! We talked about our five senses and how we can use those to tell us we are in the prairies. We also sketched a prairie landscape after looking at drone video footage!  In math, students have been working on addition strategies. Grade 1s worked on doubles, and grade 2s work on number-lines!  In art, we created bags to collect our valentines making animals with hearts!  In P.E, we had lots of fun with Drum Fit!

In art and science this week, students did a wonderful job of creating art-cicles to hang in the trees in our school yard. See if you can spot the one you made!  In social studies, we had two wonderful presentations from Grandma Carol who shared with us about her time teaching in Northern Canada to wrap up our arctic unit! Students were able to see many artefacts and hear stories about traditional ways of life in the arctic.  In FLA, students continued to do great work on their arctic animal stories!!  In math, students continued to learn strategies for addition. Grade 1s practiced using pictures, and Grades 2s practiced addition with number lines.
