Library!

 


Bonjour! Today we had our first visit to the library! Our library day is Tuesday. Please bring books back to school before Tuesday of the following week so that students can sign out new books each week! 
We talked to students about taking good care of books such as not folding pages, spilling water bottles, or having them chewed by pets! Please remind students to take care and have so much fun reading!

Highlights from this week!

 On Friday we went to the coulee! We had so much fun on our colour hunt, practicing counting through collecting objects in nature, finding signs of fall in our journals and reflecting on senses of seeing, hearing, touching, and smelling.  In math, we practiced collecting and counting objects in french.  In science, we have been looking at insects and labeling them.  In FLA, we have been working on Daily 5, where students cycle through reading to self, reading to others, word work, working on writing, and listening to reading.  In PE,  we have been working on locomotor skills with skipping and ball handling. They are practicing communicating well together and taking turns.  In art, we explored print making by using fall leaves to create prints!

Highlights May 30- June 3rd

 In FLA, students have been doing a wonderful job wrapping up their caterpillar stories! They have created some beautiful art to go with their story!  In math, students have been getting lots of practice with subtraction and conducting a survey!  In science, we introduced concepts of 'sink and float'! Students made predictions on what objects would sink or float and had a discussion about why they did or didn't.  In social studies, we talked about Acadien history in Canada. Students acted out acadien settlement, ways of life, and conflict.  In P.E students enjoyed playing lots of field games and jump roping.

Highlights of this week! Nov. 8-12

This week we shared in remembering our indigenous and non-indigenous veterans who served for our country. Here is a video we created as a school to honour them.  For this video, we practiced the poem 'Brave Soldat' as a class and prepared poppy art to show alongside the verses. We then recorded ourselves reciting the poem alongside Mme. Pelletier's class. See our video here.  To honour our indigenous veteran's day, we talked about indigenous people's role in serving our country, with specific attention to the cree code talkers.  In math this week, we continued to practice counting to 100, and started working on counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s!  We also looked at sorting objects based on their attributes, and practiced counting groups of numbers.  In social studies, we are talking about belonging with a focus on logos and symbols.  For example, what does a poppy symbolize?
